Invisible in Seven Days
An exhibition and a live art studio in Kallio Kunsthalle 16.-22.05.2016
Invisible in Seven Days is a project by artists Anastasia Artemeva and Annika Niskanen. It follows their Invisible Neighbours work in autumn 2015, which offered room for communication between the residents of Helsinki prison, and the neighbourhood community. Prisoners and neighbours created and exchanged postcards, and life on either side of the prison wall was depicted through a variety of everyday themes and materials. The original postcards were gifts to their recipients, and the Kallio Kunsthalle exhibition will feature photographs of the cards. As well as exhibiting the correspondence, the gallery will turn into a meeting place and a live art studio for that one week. In the space we will serve coffee and discuss invisibility. Welcome!
The project is implemented in cooperation with Kallio Kunsthalle, Helsinki prison and Performance Centre Eskus. The project has received the support of The Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Näyttely ja esitystaideverstas Kallio Kunsthallessa 16.–22.5.2016
Näkymättömäksi seitsemässä päivässä on Anastasia Artemevan ja Annika Niskasen taideprojekti, joka on jatkoa syksyllä 2015 Helsingin vankilassa ja sen naapurustossa toteutetulle Näkymättömät Naapurit -yhteisötaideteokselle. Teoksessa vangit ja naapuruston asukkaat lähettivät toisilleen itse tekemiään postikortteja. Korteissa kuvattiin jokapäiväistä elämää vankilan muurin molemmin puolin erilaisin menetelmin ja materiaalein. Alkuperäiset kortit jäivät aina vastaanottajalleen lahjaksi, mutta korteista tehty valokuvanäyttely on esillä Kallio Kunsthallessa 16.–22.5.2016. Kallio Kunsthalle on viikon ajan paitsi galleria myös kohtaamispaikka ja esitystaideverstas, jossa työskentely näkymättömyyden teeman parissa jatkuu yhdessä galleriavieraiden kanssa. Tervetuloa!
Projekti on toteutettu yhteistyössä Kallio Kunsthallen, Helsingin Vankilan ja Esitystaiteen Keskuksen kanssa. Projekti on saanut tukea Taiteen edistämiskeskukselta.
